About IOTA
Iota (Symbol: MIOTA) is a cryptocurrency that is designed for efficient machine-to-machine (M2M) transactions. Released in Berlin, Germany in Q1 2017 by the Iota Foundation, Iota is the first virtual cash without using a blockchain technology. Instead, it utilizes a directed acyclic graphs (DAG) which providing different features such as zero-cost transactions, tremendous scalability, and offline financial activities. While blockchain system has multiple trading combined in each block before being examined and confirmed by miners, Tangle technology enables every individual transaction to create a new block and prove itself. This means users first need to confirm two randomly chosen transactions in the IOTA network, which is based on a basic version of Proof-of-Work (PoW). Iota offers near-zero cost confirmation due to the support of PoW for almost all devices.
