Ben.eth, the creator of $PSYOP, pledged to provide refunds to individuals who suffered losses of Ethereum due to a phishing scam that he unintentionally amplified by quote-tweeting it to his followers. He requested the victims to contact him via email and verify their fund theft incidents.

Steve Aoki Hacked

Zachxbt, an on-chain investigator, shared a tweet on May 26 indicating that hackers had breached Steve Aoki's Twitter account in order to execute a phishing scam, employing a fraudulent airdrop link associated with the $PSYOP memecoin.

Ben.eth unknowingly retweeted the post that included the phishing link, mistakenly believing it originated from the authentic Steve Aoki. As a result, individuals who were exposed to the link suffered approximately $170,000 in losses.

After becoming victims of the scam, the affected individuals sought help from Zachxbt. Recognizing the gravity of the situation, Zachxbt promptly sounded the alarm and notified Ben.eth. In a swift response, Ben.eth took immediate action by deleting the tweet in order to prevent any additional losses from occurring.

On Twitter, Ben.eth issued a response stating that he had no prior knowledge of the account being hacked.

Aoki has refrained from making any public statement regarding the issue.

Possible Hack by Disgruntled Investors

Ben.eth suggested that Aoki's account had likely been compromised by disgruntled investors who had "missed the presale" and were now attempting to "recoup their unrealized gains."

He did not offer any substantiating evidence to support his assertions, leaving it uncertain whether the statement was made in a joking manner or held serious intent.

Based on Zachxbt's on-chain investigation, it was discovered that the majority of the ETH stolen by the hackers was transferred to an unidentified wallet. However, it was also observed that a portion of the ETH had been moved to an address associated with a prior attack.

According to Zachxbt, approximately 26 ETH was transferred to the mentioned address, which had been connected to the previous incidents of sim swapping and swatting carried out by the individual known as andy8052.
